Psychosexual & Couples Therapy
Integrative Psychosexual, Relationship & Couples Therapy
Psychosexual, Relationship and Couples Therapy is a specialist area of psychotherapy/counselling for individuals and couples, regardless of sexual orientation. It is used to work with a range of sexual difficulties, which can manifest physically, emotionally and relationally and often in combination.
Emma offers an empathetic, safe, and professional environment where she and her clients can work together to identify any sexual or relationship issues and identify what might be creating and maintaining them. Together you will come up with a plan for how best to move forward. The appointment can be for individuals or partners in a relationship.
Talking about Sex
Sexual problems are a lot more common than one probably realises. They are often difficult to talk about and may cause distress, embarrassment, shame, anxiety and low mood, which can make us disconnect from ourselves, our body and, our partners. Moreover, they can interrupt healthy sexual functioning and intimacy, which may impact negatively our self-esteem, confidence and relationships. Emma wants to reassure you that most sexual issues can be rectified much easier that you may think in therapy.
Psychosexual Therapy offers a judgment-free space in which we can have difficult conversations, away from the fear of being judged or having to hold back on what you need to say and want to explore.
How Emma Works
Emma works in an integrated way, with an understanding that sexual issues are not purely physical dysfunctions, but also include psychological and emotional components. She has a wealth of experience spanning two decades working with sexual health, fertility, pregnancy and everything that has an impact on our day-to-day, mind-body balance.
Emma has been supporting clients to identify areas for change, managing difficult emotions and creating short and long term plans to facilitate her client’s aims. She uses a combined approach of REBT, (Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy) and Hypnotherapy, along with other modalities. She is currently in advanced training in Psychosexual, Couples and Relationship Therapy and a member of COSRT.
She works in a holistic person-centred way, and will be happy to offer you a free 15-minuet chat to discuss any questions you may have before embarking on therapy with her.
